Academic Probation
It is our desire that every student remain at Calvary Chapel High School. However, students who are not making progress towards graduation may be placed on probationary status for academic reasons. The probationary period is evaluated twice each year: at the end of the fall and the spring semesters.

A student will be placed on academic probation for one semester if their academic grade point average (GPA) falls below a 2.0*. The student must maintain above a 2.0 GPA for each progress report while on probation. If the probationary student’s GPA for a progress report is below a 2.0 or has not elevated their GPA to a 2.0 or above by the conclusion of the probationary semester, he/she may be asked to withdraw from school. If at the end of the probationary semester the student achieves a GPA of a 2.0 or above, he/she will be removed from academic probation. A student placed on academic probation status more than once within two years may be asked to withdraw.
*A student’s GPA is calculated from all classes except Campus Service and P.E./Athletics.

Summer School
Summer School is to help those students who have done poorly in a class during the school year or who need to take a prerequisite course prior to the fall semester. Any courses taken during the summer not offered at CCHS must be approved by the Academic Guidance Counselor prior to enrollment in the course.

If a student is taking a summer course to fulfill a prerequisite for a CCHS course, and the course is at CCHS, the student may take the course without administrative approval. However, if the course is taken through another school, the course must be approved first. Approved college courses may be included in Academic GPA. If there are questions concerning any summer school courses, please check with the Academic Guidance Office prior to taking.

Poor or Failing Grades
Any student who receives a grade of C, D or F may retake the course in Summer School. If the course is offered at CCHS, the student may retake the course without administrative approval. Credit for the old letter grade will be removed from the student’s GPA and the new grade will be factored into the student’s GPA. The old grade will always remain on the student’s transcript.
